How We Treat It:

Hands on Treatment – AKA Manual Therapy. Most of what we do in the clinic is one on one, hands on treatment, working directly on what is causing your pain. This can include joint mobilization or manipulation, various massage techniques and manual stretching. The goal with this is to decrease your pain, increase your range of motion and restore function.

Education – Being educated about your injury is the most important factor towards your success. Understanding your injury allows you to take control. We will work with you to build awareness about your body mechanics, movement patterns, and recognizing symptoms. We will give you the skills you need to manage your injury at home and work towards your optimal strength and mobility.

Therapeutic Exercise/Functional Training – Corrective exercises is a crucial component for your recovery. Your therapist will give you specific exercises to restore and improve your strength, endurance, flexiblity, stability and balance.

Acupuncture – Some physical therapists use acupuncture techniques that are based on Traditional Chinese Medicine. Studies have shown that it can aid in the healing process, improve pain and function when used with therapeutic exercise and education.

Functional Dry Needling/IMS – This is another needling technique that utilizes acupuncture needles. It is based on anatomy and physiology principles to target muscle and nerve related dysfunction. It can offer significant pain relief and improved function to athletes or people who have experienced long standing pain.

Modalities – This includes heat, ice, ultrasound and electric modalities such as TENS and IFC. They feel great and can help you get moving quicker!

Taping and Bracing Techniques – K-tape, athletic tape and braces can be helpful in reducing your pain so you can move more freely and/or increasing support so you feel more stable.
